The sonic inspiration mainly came from a UK-based electronic producer Actress, whose sparse, detailed techno pieces produce a unique sound; both ghetto lo-fi and luxurious refinement. I wanted to use type as the forming material — type as a means to create a pattern, a repetition, a looped procession. Words and letter forms were chopped up and distorted, just like the muted, looped snippets of lyrics or spoken word suddenly jumping in and out of Actresses' layered tunes. The music often refers to street culture, tower blocks and graffiti tags. The faint patina of spray paint both alludes to that and to the droning noise running all through most of the sound pieces.
